About This Activity

Art of Problem Solving (AoPS) Academy offers year-round enrichment in math and language arts for kids who enjoy being challenged and thinking deeply, generally from about grades 2–12. During the school year, AoPS Academy runs weekly after-school and weekend classes that feel more like seminar-style problem-solving labs than traditional tutoring. In math, students work on advanced topics and contest-style problems (beyond standard school curriculum), while language arts classes dive into rich reading, analytical writing, and structured argumentation. The vibe is very much “for kids who like puzzles & patterns and there’s regular homework so skills build week to week.

In the summer, AoPS Academy offers shorter courses and camps that are usually more intensive but run for a limited number of weeks. These might include: previews of next year’s math content, focused problem-solving camps (often with a competition flavor), and reading/writing workshops that help kids strengthen critical thinking and communication without feeling like boring summer school.

Across both school-year and summer programs, the emphasis is on rigor, curiosity, and community; kids are surrounded by peers who like to nerd out on math and words, and parents typically use AoPS either to extend a strong student beyond what school offers or to plug them into a more challenging, intellectually engaging environment than a typical homework-help center.
