About This Activity
Brave Arts is a musical theatre-focused summer program held at The Cambridge School of Weston, built for kids who want a week (or two) of singing, dancing, acting, and performance confidence, with plenty of theatre games, improv, and outdoor play mixed in. Their core approach is skills-based (voice/acting/dance technique) but intentionally welcoming: day sessions are open to all experience levels, with a stated mission of “confidence…one kid at a time.”
Day Camp are for ages 7–15 and run as one-week sessions in July. The day runs 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., and lunch is provided (through CSW’s dining hall). Each week culminates in a Friday performance, and Brave Arts emphasizes that every performer gets meaningful stage time—aiming for every camper to perform a solo—in a musical revue format (not a single full musical production).
For older kids who want the full “sleepaway” bonding experience, Brave Arts also offers a Boarding Camp for ages 11–17 (or rising HS senior). Boarding sessions begin Sunday late afternoon and include extended rehearsal/training time in the afternoons/evenings (beyond the shared daytime schedule), plus the community-building and independence of an overnight program; meals are included for campers. Families can choose one-week boarding sessions or a two-week boarding option that runs through the weekend.
Parent logistics notes: a 7:1 participant-to-counselor ratio, and essential program items (like rehearsal materials and t-shirts) are included.

What Parents Like
- The most consistent theme in Brave Arts’ publicly posted parent/kid testimonials is confidence—kids finding their voice, taking chances, and growing on and off stage. (1)
- Families explicitly praise Brave Arts for giving everyone opportunities to participate and feel part of the team—something parents value when a kid is newer, shy, or not the “loudest” performer. (1)
- A safe, encouraging environment parents trust. One testimonial calls it a “safe and encouraging haven…where kids can take chances, and parents can trust in letting go,” which is pretty much the dream for a performance-heavy camp. (1)
- In a local parent Facebook group thread, a parent shared their child went last year and loved it, noting that students help instruct and that teachers were great. (2)
- Testimonials repeatedly describe Brave Arts as more than a camp—kids from different ages/towns “become a family,” and parents notice friendships and values being reinforced. (1)
What Parents Think Could Be Improved
- Brave Arts has a robust testimonial page, but there aren’t many independently hosted, camp-specific parent reviews publicly indexed.
Our Take
Brave Arts’ clearest, most verifiable signals are confidence-building, inclusive participation, and a high-trust, supportive culture—exactly what parents want from a musical-theatre camp where kids are asked to be brave onstage. Because independent camp reviews are lighter, the most MomBrains move is a quick fit-check before you enroll. That will tell you if the week matches your child’s temperament.
