Dribbl

About This Activity

Dribbl’s camps are centered on instructional basketball in a positive, supportive environment, with a big emphasis on fundamentals (shooting, passing, footwork, ball-handling) and a reputation for experienced staff/high coach-to-player ratio. For NYC families, their main offering is NYC summer basketball camps (boys & girls Pre-K–6th) with half-day or full-day.

A fun add-on they’ve featured is “Art & Hoops” (a basketball + afternoon art mashup with The Craft Studio) offered for two July weeks. Dribbl also runs holiday/school break camps.

*Bonus for NYC parents who go out east in August: Dribbl also hosts a Hamptons Basketball Camp week in Southampton.

Ratings & Reviews

What Parents Like

  • Parents say coaches do a great job engaging kids and keeping them involved/active—one reviewer’s 4-year-old “loves it” after multiple sessions. A parent was “always surprised” by the coach-to-student ratio (describing it as roughly one coach for every two kids), which they felt helped with coordination and confidence. (1)
  • Reviews highlight a positive environment that builds skills plus confidence (and even broader “emotional intelligence”). (1)
  • Multiple reviews mention a post-session window where families can shoot around/play with their kids (10–20 minutes depending on that's year's location), which becomes a favorite part of the routine. (1)
  • Dribbl’s own testimonials echo what families tend to value: enthusiastic, kind, knowledgeable coaches and drills that feel worth the time. (2)

What Parents Think Could Be Improved

  • The most detailed public feedback is often about classes/clinics rather than the summer camp day-by-day experience, so you may need to rely on a quick call/email to confirm the daily rhythm, groupings, and what a typical camp day looks like.
  • Dribbl posts dates and site info by season, so families planning ahead should double-check the current year’s details.

Our Take

Dribbl consistently shows up as a strong pick for NYC families who want fundamentals-first basketball in a high-energy, supportive environment—especially for younger players and beginners. The clearest “why parents stick with it” signals are coach quality, high attention per kid, and a kid-happy culture (plus the bonus parent-kid shootaround time). If you’re deciding for summer camp, it never hurts to ask about how groups are formed (age vs. skill), how much scrimmage time kids get, and what the indoor/outdoor/heat plan is.
