About This Activity

Park Square Theatre’s Summer Programs ( grades K–12) are a big menu of weeklong theater camps designed by grade band—K–1, grades 2–4, grades 5–8, plus a grades 3–8 Production Series—all led by professional theatre educators and structured to work for both beginners and experienced performers. Camps run in AM (9:00–12:00) and PM (1:00–4:00) blocks (with a few all-day options), and many weeks culminate in a short end-of-camp showcase so families can see what kids created and learned.

For teens, there’s also a “coming soon” Park Square + 3M Teen Professional Intensive: a four-week program for high school students that blends acting or technical theatre with STEM/engineering mentorship, building toward a full production of Little Shop of Horrors (audition info to be announced, check back here or on their website).

Ratings & Reviews

What Parents Like

  • Showcase-style weeks that feel rewarding for kids. Many of the camp listings emphasize the end-of-week showcase where campers share what they created/learned—often a big confidence win for kids and a tangible “you can see the growth” moment for parents. (1)
  • Park Square’s education programs highlight PAYA/sliding-scale pricing options supported by donations—an “access matters” signal many families value. (1)
  • Public reviews about Park Square Theatre as a venue commonly praise the accommodating staff, intimate space, and “good seats everywhere.” This isn’t camp-specific, but it’s a positive signal for the overall environment families are walking into. (2, 3)

What Parents Think Could Be Improved

  • Most publicly available feedback is about performances/theatre visits rather than youth camps.

Our Take

Park Square’s summer camps are a strong option for kids who want a theatre week with real skill-building and a clear end goal (a showcase), especially since they’re designed for beginners through experienced performers and offer flexible pricing support. Because camp-specific reviews are limited online, the best “MomBrains move” is a quick fit-check email: How are campers grouped (age/experience)? What’s the typical day schedule? What’s the counselor-to-camper ratio? How do you support shy/anxious kids or big behaviors?
