Buckingham Browne & Nichols School Camps

Summer @ BB&N (Buckingham Browne & Nichols) in Cambridge is set up as a flexible, mix-and-match day summer camp experience for kids from age 4 (PreK) through rising 12th grade. The program runs in weekly sessions over 8 weeks each summer, with regular camp hours from 8:15 a.m.–3:30 p.m. and optional early morning (7:15–8:15 a.m.) and extended day (3:30–5:30 p.m.) coverage for working families.

There are three main types of camps. The Classic Camp (PreK–grade 10) is the traditional day camp option, where campers rotate through a wide range of activities—arts and crafts, sports, theater, hands-on projects, water play, and archery, plus “Theme Thursdays” and “Fun Fridays” with special events and dress-up days. Older Classic Campers can join Teen Camp and the LIT 1 & 2 (Leaders in Training) programs in grades 8–10, which blend camp fun with leadership development and off-site trips.

Families who want something more focused can opt into Specialty Camps (grades 1–9) and Sports Camps (grades 1–12). Specialty Camps dive into a single theme for a full week—everything from chess, coding, STEAM, parkour, and mixed media art to film-making with partners like CinemaKidz. Sports Camps offer dedicated weeks for soccer, basketball, fishing, and “Ultimate Games,” with daily drills, skills, and scrimmages. Overall, Summer @ BB&N is designed so you can build a summer that fits your child’s age, interests, and your schedule—whether that’s a full season of Classic Camp, a single sports week, or a couple of specialty “deep dive” sessions.

What Parents Like‍

‍On the positive side, parents describe a classic, activity-rich day camp with engaged staff, lots of variety (swim, arts, nature, sports, woodworking, archery), strong food/allergy practices, and kids who are thrilled to go back each day—even over multiple years and across multiple program types. On the flip side, experiences seem to vary significantly by year, group, and possibly staff team, which is something parents should keep in mind and talk to leadership about.BB&N can be an excellent fit for some kids—especially those who thrive in a structured, full-day camp with lots of activity choices and strong swim programming.
