About This Activity
City Island Stables’ summer riding program is a horse camp experience in the Bronx (City Island) for kids ages 5–16, designed to blend hands-on horsemanship with time in the saddle. The program focuses on core barn skills like horse care and grooming and stable safety, alongside riding lessons and some arts & crafts mixed into the day. It’s set up to work for a range of experience levels—great for first-timers who want a safe intro, and also fun for kids who already love being around horses.

What Parents Think Could Be Improved
- Most online review content is about trail rides/lessons/overall stable experience rather than detailed “my kid did the Summer Riding Program” write-ups (day structure, counselor ratios, progression, etc.).
Our Take
City Island Stables has strong “first impression” signals—families consistently mention patient staff and a comfortable beginner experience, which typically translates well to kids’ programming. Since true camp-specific reviews are limited, the best MomBrains move before enrolling is a quick fit-check.
