About This Activity
The Guggenheim offers week‐long art camps for children (typically ages 5-7 and 8-11) where participants explore visual arts in a museum setting. Campers engage in hands-on workshops inspired by the museum’s exhibitions and architecture—doing projects in drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, and sculptural media. The sessions are structured but flexible: each day includes gallery exploration, guided art time, and a culminating share or exhibition of work. The program emphasizes creative experimentation, art-making processes, and skill‐building in an immersive setting.

Registration takes place online. Early registration is not available; the webpage will be made live only when reigstration opens.

What Parents Like
- Parents have called Summerscapes a way for “creative kids” to get an “insider’s view” of the Guggenheim’s architecture and galleries, in a very unique experience. (1)

What Parents Think Could be Improved
- Unlike big general camps (YMCA, day camps with long histories, overnight camps), the Guggenheim's camps are often run in smaller groups, with fewer sessions. While not an explicit negative, this means there's limited public feedback and it's harder to get into camp.
Our Take
The Guggenheim's art camps are an amazing choice for artisitically inclined kids who are looking for more of a challenge during the summertime. Just be sure to sign up for their mailing list and keep your ear to the ground on initial registraiton, to ensure you're included in future, exclusive communications.
