Windfall Equestrian Center

The summer camps at Windfall Equestrian Center are horse-focused day camps designed for kids who want to learn riding and horsemanship in a supportive, hands-on environment. Located just outside the Cities in Stillwater, the program offers several skill-based camp levels, allowing beginners and experienced riders alike to build confidence with horses while enjoying classic camp activities.Windfall organizes its camps by riding experience. Younger or brand-new riders can start with “My First Horse Camp,” a short introductory program (typically ages 4–6) where kids meet the horses, learn basic care, and try pony riding in a fun, low-pressure setting. Older beginners (generally around ages 6–12) can join Beginner Camps, which introduce the fundamentals of riding—basic seat position, steering, rein use, and horse handling. As campers progress, Intermediate and Advanced Camps add more challenging skills such as obstacle work, cantering, and even introductory jumping for riders ready for the next level.

A typical camp day mixes mounted riding lessons with horsemanship education and camp-style fun. Campers spend time grooming and caring for horses, learning about tack and equipment, and studying topics like horse anatomy, nutrition, breeds, and colors. In the saddle, instructors guide riders through exercises and games designed to reinforce skills and build confidence. For parents, the program is structured as day camps with several scheduling options, including single-day sessions (half-days from 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.) and multi-day camps (often 3- or 5-day formats running roughly 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.). Helmets are provided and required for all riders, and camps typically spend much of the day outdoors, with indoor arenas available if weather requires.
